Onset of reproduction in plants: Size-versus age-dependency.
Understanding the roles of age and size in the timing of first reproduction or flowering in plants has become a goal for those investigating the evolution of life cycle patterns in general. Here I review the studies that are helping to clarify these roles, and indicate some directions for future research.
متن کاملMutation size and age at onset in Huntington's disease.
The mutation responsible for Huntington's disease is a polymorphic (CAG)n repeat sequence which is expanded on affected chromosomes. The number of repeat units observed on 229 affected chromosomes varied from 27 to 102, while the control chromosomes showed a range of 7 to 34 repeats. There was a highly significant relationship between the size of the expanded region and age at onset, larger mut...
متن کاملO-15: A Qualitative Approach to Understand the Motivators of Reproduction in Couples of Reproductive Age
Background: There have been considerable changes in childbearing decision-making in Iran over the last 30 years. These changes have affected the understanding and predicting of fertility behavior changes by reproductive health policy makers and program planners. This study was conducted to explore the motivators of reproduction and fertility in couples of reproductive age. Materials and Methods...
متن کاملEarly-versus late-onset Alzheimer's disease: more than age alone.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia at older age. Although less prevalent before the age of 65 years, it is still the most frequent cause of early-onset dementia followed by frontotemporal dementia. The typical presentation of AD is memory dysfunction, however, presentations with prominent cognitive impairment in other domains besides memory, like prominent apraxia, la...
متن کاملFinite Element Modeling of Strain Rate and Grain Size Dependency in Nanocrystalline Materials
Nanocrystalline materials show a higher strain-rate sensitivity in contrast to the conventional coarse-grained materials and a different grain size dependency. To explain these phenomenon, a finite element model is constructed that considers both grain interior and grain boundary deformation of nanocrystalline materials. The model consist of several crystalline cores with different orientations...
